Because Republicans still resort to the same talking points that won them elections for decades but Americans overwhelmingly rejected last November thanks to the disastrous Bush presidency. The GOP needs a new story, new substance but it's trapped by appeasing the conservative base that continues to shrink and wanting to reach out to a new audience. The Republican party has to make a choice. As long as it's identified with the far right fringe they will remain politically irrelevant
