Tokyo sightseeing for 1 day, any ideas?

I will be in Tokyo Japan for 1 day (on a Sunday). what is the best thing to see or do? I'd be interested in seeing skyscrs, monuments, gardens, etc., things of that nature, to really get a feel of the culture. That day is also my birthday, any special place to visit?
